Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Teens & Adults
Dialectical Behavior Therapy helps people regulate intense emotions and replace impulsive, unskillful behaviors with more effective responses. It teaches practical skills in four areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness.
Sarah Kencel, LCSW is one of only ten DBT-Linehan Board Certified clinicians in Connecticut. Sessions are structured and action-oriented, and much of the work is done on an interactive whiteboard so clients leave with a record of the skills they have practiced. In some cases, a DBT skills group alongside individual therapy may be recommended.
DBT is offered in person in Old Greenwich, CT and online in CT, NY, MA, PA, FL and CO.
